Invitation-----------------------

Friday, November 11, 2023

Want to know what it's like to be a Nanomedicine, Nanoscience, or Systems Biology student at Virginia Tech? Curious about the Integrated Science Curriculum (ISC)?

You’re Invited!

The Academy of Integrated Science (AIS) invites you to join us for AIS Preview Day!

The AIS brings together multiple areas of expertise to explore powerful new approaches to current complex scientific problems and is home to the NanoscienceNanomedicine, and Systems Biology majors along with eight interdisciplinary minors and the innovative Integrated Science Curriculum (ISC)

Nanoscience is designed for students with an interest in the physical sciences (think Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, etc.) and has applications in areas such as electronics, information technology, renewable energy, and advanced materials.

Nanomedicine is designed for students with an interest in life sciences disciplines (think Biology, Chemistry, etc.) and will educate students to approach revolutionary areas in medicine such as targeted drug delivery, regenerative medicine, and personalized medicine.

Systems Biology is designed to train students in the theoretical/computational tools (think computer science and computational modeling) and methods necessary to understand living organisms as systems of closely interacting parts (genes, proteins, cells, tissues, organs). This major is great for students interested in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Biomedical Sciences.

The event takes place on the Friday before Virginia Tech's November Open House Weekend. The two events (Open House and AIS Preview Day) are designed to work together, but feel free to select what works best for you!

Register Here for AIS Preview Day:
Friday, November 10th

What to expect during our AIS Preview Day:

  • An AIS Information Session including all majors and minors
  • Students attend an Integrated Science Curriculum (ISC) class
  • A tour of the labs and meeting with AIS/ISC faculty
  • Students will attend a class or presentation based on their major interest
  • Student Lunch at an on-campus dining hall with current AIS students
  • Meet with an AIS academic advisor
  • Meet with the Director of the Academy of Integrated Science
