Virginia Tech launches 3+3 Program in partnership with George Mason University School of Law
Virginia Tech has launched a new 3+3 Program that allows students to complete both their bachelor’s degree and a law degree in just six years instead of the usual seven.
Through the program, students complete all of their core major requirements at Virginia Tech before transitioning to George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, one of the top law schools in the country, to begin law school. Elective credits are fulfilled through courses at George Mason, making the program a streamlined and flexible pathway for students committed to pursuing legal careers.
James Steiner, associate professor of practice in the Academy of Integrated Science and lead of the Science, Technology, and Law minor, has been instrumental in developing the program.
“[We’re excited to] open up a better direction for our students, allowing more ease of access to a law career,” Steiner remarked about the program.
There are no requirements to be in a certain major - the program is designed to work on a student-by-student basis. For highly motivated students, the 3+3 Program offers the opportunity to shorten their time to a law degree, reduce costs, and start their professional career a year before their peers. Students committed to a law career as they enter their first or second undergraduate year are highly encouraged to apply.
